वहीं जब जॉर्ज महज 11 साल के थे, तभी उनके सिर से पिता का साया उठ गया था। जिसके बाद उनके बड़े भाई ने उनकी एक पिता की तरह परवरिश की और उनकी सभी सुख-सुविधाओं का ध्यान दिया।
वहीं जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन के बारे में सबसे अधिक दिलचस्प बात यह है कि उन्होंने काफी समय तक स्कूल जाकर शिक्षा ग्रहण नहीं की थी।

- जॉर्ज वांशिगटन के बारे में सबसे रोचक तथ्य यह है वे कभी कॉलेज नहीं गए थे, लेकिन उन्हें ब्रिटिश आर्मी में अपनी सेवाएं दी थी, और उन्होंने ब्रिटिश सैनिक के तौर पर फ्रांस के खिलाफ लड़ाई लड़ी थी, हालांकि इस लड़ाई में वे हार गए थे, जिसके बाद फ्रांस से काफी लंबा युद्ध चला था।
- जॉर्ज वांशिगटन अमेरिका के पहले इकलौते राष्ट्रपति थे, जिन्होंने अपने पद पर रहते हुए ब्रिटिश सेना का नेतृत्व किया था।
- अमेरिका के पहले राष्ट्रपित जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन के बारे में सबसे दिलचस्प बात यह है कि उन्होंने अपनी 25 हजार डॉलर सालाना सैलरी लेने से मना कर दिया था।
- अमेरिका को ब्रिटिश हुकूमत से आजादी दिलवाने में अपनी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने वाले जॉर्ज वॉशिंगटन अमेरिका के एकमात्र ऐसे राष्ट्रपति थे, जिन्हें सर्वसम्मति से राष्ट्रपति के पद के लिए चुना गया था।
- जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन को अपने राष्ट्रपति कार्यकाल के अंतिम दिनों में अपने राजशाही रवैये के चलते कड़ी निंदा का सामना करना पड़ा था।
- जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन के चेचक की बीमारी से अपनी सेना को बचाने के लिए टीकाकरण के फैसले से काफी संख्या में मृत्यु दर में कमी आ गई थी, जिससे उन्हें बड़े स्तर पर सराहना मिली थी। दरअसल, उस समय चेचक की बीमारी ने भयानक रुप धारण कर लिया था, और यह महामारी का रुप ले चुकी थी, जो कि कई लोगों की मौत का भी कारण बन चुकी थी।
- अमेरिका के क्रांतिकारी एवं पहले राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन को पत्र लिखने का बेहद शौक था। उन्होंने अपने जीवनकाल में करीब 18 से 20 हजार पत्र लिखे थे।
- जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन के बारे में यह भी प्रचलित है कि उन्होंने अपने कुछ नकली दांत अपने दासों से खरीदे थे। हालांकि वे अपनी मौत से कुछ समय पहले दास प्रथा के खिलाफ हो गए थे और उन्होंने अपने सभी 300 दासों को आजाद करने की इच्छा जताई थी।
- जॉर्ज वांशिगटन के नाम पर ही अमेरिका की वर्तमान राजधानी ”वाशिंगटन डी.सी.” का नाम रखा गया, लेकिन वे कभी राष्ट्रपति के रुप में यहां नहीं रह सकें। दरअसल, उनके समय में अमेरिका की राजधानी न्यूयॉर्क सिटी थी।
जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने एक विधवा महिला मार्था डॅन्डरिज कस्टिस से शादी की थी, जिसे अपने पहले पति से 2 बच्चे थे एवं उसे तलाक के बाद काफी संपत्ति भी मिली थी।
वहीं वाशिंगटन और मार्था की शादी के बाद कोई बच्चा नहीं हुआ था, इसलिए वाशिंगटन मार्था के बच्चों को ही अपने बच्चे मानते थे। वहीं वाशिंगटन की परवरिश करने वाले बड़े भाई की मौत के बाद जॉर्ज को उनकी सारी प्रॉपर्टी मिल गई थी, जिसके बाद उन्होंने अपनी पत्नी के साथ मिलकर एक नया घर खरीदा था, जो कि अब ”माउंट वर्नन के नाम से जाना जाता है।
14 से 16 साल की उम्र में जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने एक सर्वेक्षक यानि कि भूमापक के तौर पर काम किया था। इस दौरान उन्होंने कई नई जमीनों के नक्शे तैयार किए इसके बारे में जानकारी हासिल की थी।
भूमापक के तौर पर काम करने के कुछ समय बाद ही जॉर्ज वांशिगटन अमेरिकी सेना में शामिल हो गए और फिर वे अपनी काबिलियत और हुनर की बदौलत 1752 को मेजर के पद पर सुशोभित हुए।
इसके बाद वे 24 जुलाई 1758 में वर्जीनिया के प्रतिनिधि के रुप में चुने गए। यह उनके जीवन की अब तक की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण सफलाओं में से एक थी। इसके बाद 1761 में जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने घोड़ागाड़ी से दक्षिण राज्यों का भ्रमण किया।
यही नहीं साल 1774 में जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने ऐतिहासिक फिलाडेल्फिया सम्मेलन में वर्जीनिया का बेहद शानदार ढंग से प्रतिनिधित्व किया था। फिर 16 जून, 1775 में उन्हें उत्तर राज्यों की संयुक्त सेनाओं के प्रधान के रुप में नियुक्त किया गया था।
वहीं इस दौरान उन्होंने फ्रांस के खिलाफ चल रहे विद्रोह में हिस्सा लिया और इस युद्ध में उन्होंने विद्रोही सेना के छक्के छुड़ा दिए थे और ब्रिटेन पर विजय हासिल की थी। साथ ही संयुक्त राज्यों की स्वाधीनता जो कि 4 जुलाई, 1776 को घोषित हो चुकी थी इसे मान्यता देने के लिए ब्रिटिश सरकार की नाक में दम कर दिया था।
इसके बाद मई, 1787 में उन्हें फेडरल सम्मेलन के अध्यक्ष के तौर पर नियुक्त किया गया था। फिर 17 सितंबर, साल 1787 में जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने संविधान प्रारुप पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
1789, में बनने का गौरव प्राप्त हुआ। उन्होंने अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति के रुप में 1789 से साल 1797 तक करीब 8 साल अपनी सेवाएं दी।
उन्होंने अपने राष्ट्रपति के दोनों कार्यकालों में अमेरिका का काफी विकास करवाया एवं कई योजनाओं एवं प्रथाओं को जारी किया, जिनका पालन आज तक किया जा रहा है। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने राष्ट्रपति के तौर पर अमेरिका को एक शक्तिशाली राष्ट्र बनाने में अपनी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।
जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने राष्ट्रपति के रुप में न सिर्फ कैबिनेट की नींव रखी बल्कि पहले राष्ट्रीय बैंक बनाने एवं सुप्रीम कोर्ट के न्यायधीशों की नियुक्ति करने जैसे कई अहम फैसले लिए। इसके अलावा उन्होंने संविधान के मुताबिक अमेरिकी सरकार के गठन करने में भी अपना महत्वपूर्ण रोल अदा किया।
वे अपने राष्ट्रपति पद के दो कार्यकाल के बाद खुद इस पद से हट गए और उन्होंने किसी भी व्यक्ति के अमेरिका का दो से ज्यादा बार राष्ट्रपति नहीं बनने का नियम बनाया।
दरअसल, उन्होंने यह नियम इसलिए बनाया, क्योंकि वो नहीं चाहते थे, कि कोई भी व्यक्ति लंबे वक्त तक इस महत्वपूर्ण पद पर रहते खुद को बलवान और ताकतवर समझे और फिर एक तानाशाह की तरह शासन शुरु करे।
यही नहीं अमेरिका के पहले राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने अपने राष्ट्रपति के कार्यकाल के दौरान विदेशी देशों के साथ भी शांतिपूर्ण संबंध स्थापित किए। इसके बाद 4 जुलाई, साल 1798 में जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन को लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल और प्रधान सेनापति नियुक्त किया गया था।
स्वाधीन अमेरिका के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति एवं महान क्रांतिकारी जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन ने अपने राष्ट्रपति पद से इस्तीफा देने के करीब 2 साल बाद भयानक सर्दी और गले में इंफेक्शन की वजह से 14 दिसंबर, 1799 में दम तोड़ दिया।
”अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपिता” जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन को सबसे महान एवं प्रभावशाली शख्सियत के तौर पर आज भी याद किया जाता है। जॉर्ज वाशिंगटन के प्रति सभी अमेरिकियों के ह्रद्य में अपार प्रेम और सम्मान है।

At the same time, he took part in the ongoing rebellion against France and in this war he had rescued six of the rebel army and conquered Britain. At the same time, the independence of the United States, which had been declared on 4 July 1776, plagued the British government to recognize it.
He was then appointed as the President of the Federal Conference in May, 1787. Then on September 17, 1787, George Washington signed the draft constitution.
In 1789, it had the distinction of being built. He served as President of the United States for about 8 years from 1789 to 1797.
